Mauro Perucchetti`s “Jelly Baby Family” to be placed at Marble Arch.
The sculpture depicts giant resin jelly babies who together make a family – the father the largest of the colourful jelly baby figures will stand at 3.2 m (10.5ft) high, while the smallest of the jelly babies, the child of the family will be 2.3 m (7.5 ft) tall.
The statues are part of the council’s City of Sculpture Festival – with installations donated for free by some of the world’s leading galleries and artists.
Cllr Robert Davis, Westminster City Council’s deputy leader and chairman of the planning applications sub committee, said:v”We are honoured the artist agreed to showcase his work here and we look forward to attracting many more intriguing and appealing sculptures leading up to 2012.”
As the sculptor, used as raw material for his work mainly Jelly Baby – jelly, which becomes minimal pop figures (here, a post dedicated to him in the past). He is currently in progress at the Halcyon Gallery (gallery, which lends the work), the exhibition dedicated to new works by 20 (up to January 8, 2011).
